BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's volleyball team, in only their fifth game of the year, took the court opposite a top ranked team in Division III for the second time this young season. #14 Stevenson controlled the Hawks and claimed a 3-0 victory at a neutral-site match played at Medaille College this afternoon.

Korey Schwab ended the match with nine kills, three service aces and four digs. Senior
David Mellerski earned 12 of the Hawks' 17 assists. Freshman
Brett Kane picked up six kills (.235) and four assists.
Fourteen Stevenson players took the court and contributed to their .446 attack percentage which turned into 33 kills in 56 attempts. The out-of-town visitors picked up 10 total blocks at the net and forced 29 Hilbert hitting errors.
Stevenson rushed to a 25-11 first set win behind a .650 attack percentage comprised of 14 kills and only one hitting error. The Mustangs earned 11 kill (zero hitting errors) and played to a 25-9 middle set victory.
Playing against Stevenson's reserve players in the third set, the Hawks earned their highest number of kills (7) and held the Mustangs to their weakest hitting set (.059). Hilbert rallied to a 25-21 loss and fell to 0-5.
The Hawks return to action next weekend when they travel to the Golden Flyer Invitational hosted by Nazareth College February 6 and 7. Hilbert will face the hosts early on Friday (2pm) and then Rampo College at 6pm. The following morning, the Hawks compete against Wells College (11 am) and Thiel College (3pm).
