Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team fell twice today in the final day of the Golden Flyer Invite hosted by Nazareth College. Hilbert was competitive in their three-set loss to Buffalo State but was swept with ease by Fredonia.
Hilbert started the day later expected with a 2pm game against Buffalo State. The Bengals withstood a Hilbert come-back en route to 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 set wins. There are no stats available for the match to report on.
Fredonia State (3-1) jumped on Hilbert early. They grabbed 25-10, 25-8 wins before Hilbert rallied for a 25-20 third set loss. The Hawks struggled in the second set, hitting only
one kill while picking up eight hitting errors (-.318). Hilbert responded in the third set, hitting .206 (10 kills/3 errors) but it was too late to recover.
Amanda Binder and
Kayla Lewis were the only two Hilbert players to finish hitting in the positive. Binder reached for six kills and Lewis added three.
Crystal Swanson assisted on 11 of the team's 15 assists. Lewis and Binder were the big dig-leaders as Lewis was credited with double-digit 10. Binder added nine.
Hilbert (2-4) readies for their 2014 home-opener this week. They will host Alfred State September 10
th at 7pm in the Hafner Recreation Center.
