Hawks Split at La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team traveled to La Roche College for an AMCC quad match. The Hawks faced Pitt-Greensburg in the 1pm game and fought to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-20, 26-24). However, in the second game versus the host team, the Hawks fell 0-3 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) and dropped to 4-25 but improved their AMCC record to 2-6. Amanda Binder's 27 kills led the Hawks to the 1-1 split on the day.

The Hawks dominated the Bobcats offensively, recording 45 kills to Greensburg's 25. Binder contributed 16 of those kills, while Jordan Botsford added another 13. Both Binder and Botsford had the game-high 12 digs. Morgan Ott's 31 assists were a big factor in the Hawks strong offensive play. Kayla Lewis tallied eight kills and seven digs. Olivia Tom also had eight digs.

After such a powerful first game, the Hawks faced La Roche's strong defense and were only able to garner 24 kills while La Roche collected 44 kills after hitting an impressive .337 team attack percentage. Binder continued to lead the Hawks with eleven kills and eight digs. Ott passed off seventeen assists in the loss.

Hilbert (4-25) is back on the home against Alfred University this Tuesday at 7pm and then close out their 2014 season Saturday, November 1 when they celebrate their seniors athletes against Mount Aloysius College at 11am.
