MARCY, NY: The Hawks battled host SUNYIT (10-1) to a fifth set but lost the match to the Wildcats by three points in the shortened final set September 18.
Hilbert (4-7) won the first match (25-21) powered by 16 team kills. The Hawks then dropped the next two sets, each with a score of 25-17. Hilbert rallied in the fourth from a 18-15 deficit to win 25-22 before they fell in the fifth 15-12.
The Hawks were led by freshman
Amanda Binder who finished with 16 kills and 13 digs. Senior
Shannon Memminger continued her consistent presence with 39 assists, 10 digs, and had four kills. Fellow senior
Chelsea Reischuck added nine kills and five aces. Junior
Jordan Botsford reached for double-digit digs (10) while adding 7 kills.
Hilbert continues on the road thhis weekend as they head to the Oswego State to face the Geneseo Blue Knights (5-7) and the Elmira Soaring Eagles (8-1) on Saturday, September 21.
