HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's soccer team had a tough draw today when they faced Alfred State College who had only lost twice in nine games. The Hawks held on through forty-five minutes of play before they suffered a second half let-down, dropping the non-conference game 4-0 October 8.
Hilbert held the Pioneer's leading scorer Kali Muhleisen in check after she scored her only goal today (at 4:12) which gave her 16 goals for the season and her seventh game-winner this year. Both teams went to their benches at half time with a 1-0 score and then game-planned for the second period.
The Hawks made a keeper change after intermission after
Erin Smith gave up one goal and made four saves against 13 shots.
Hilbert's defensive presence disappeared over a three minute span beginning at 66:12 when Alfred State scored three more times to give them the 4-0 spread. Late in the game,
Grace Adams played the ball in front of the net and was substituted out at 87:45 after a collision. Prior to her departure, Adams produced a similar stat-line as Smith, making four saves against 13 shots but gave up three goals.
Nine different Hawks were credited with shots, led by
Chelsea Olson's three.
Sarah Schmidt,
Robbi Bailey and
Lauren Bugaj each attempted two shots.
Hilbert (3-7, 1-2) returns to AMCC play this weekend when they travel to Franciscan University for a 3pm game in Steubenville, OH.
