BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's soccer team yielded a 1-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate loss to Medaille College October 2 at All High Stadium. The Mavericks (3-6) benefited from a lucky bounce with less than sixty seconds remaining in regulation and escaped with a home victory. Hilbert (3-6) thought they had tied the game with three seconds left but their hopes dashed as the officials played on and the final horn sounded.
The game was a tough defensive battle for both teams, who struggled to put together serious scoring opportunities in the first half; Medaille attempted four shots on goal and held the Hawks in check.
Both teams picked up their offensive connections, with Hilbert finishing the match with five shots. Medaille found room for 11 second-half shots with two post hits. In the final minute, at 89:05, Candis Capuscinski knocked the ball past
Grace Adams giving Medaille the 1-0 lead.
But the game wasn't over as Hilbert charged down the field and created a few scoring opportunities. What appeared to be a goal by the Hawks to force overtime was credited as a save for Medaille's Denay O'Connor who preserved the win for the Mavs.

This Saturday, the Hawks will take part in the National Breast Cancer Awareness month-long celebrations. They will be adding Pink to their uniforms when they take the field against Pitt-Greensburg (2-7, 1-1) at 3pm.
