Hilbert College Athletics

The athletics department closes December by introducing the cross country team captains and honoring them as Hawks of the Week.  These team captains provided leadership on and off the trails this fall, keeping their teammates mentally and physically involved and culturally connected without any competition.

Robert Krug, the head coach of both the men's and women's cross country programs, announced senior Adam Connelly and sophomore Kristine Twoguns as this year's captains.  They earned the leadership role based on their positive attitudes, commitment to and involvement within the program.  Connelly and Twoguns have served as role models, been vocal leaders and continued to lead by example during tough runs.

"Twoguns took the bull by the horns one year ago after joining the team as a freshman," continued Krug.  "She assumed a leadership role from the start and continues to guide the other women through practices and meets like a polished veteran."  The Perrysburg, N.Y. (Gowanda) native led the women's team each race last season.  She was given the team's Most Valuable Runner Award and ran her fastest 6K (29:15.9) at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship in 2019.  Twoguns was named to the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team and was earned AMCC Academic All-Conference and Peak Performer status last spring.  She helped the 2019 women's cross country team earn the program's 6th AMCC Team Peak Performer Award after the Hawks collected the highest team GPA (3.481) in the 11-member league.
