Hilbert College Athletics

The athletics department closes December by introducing the cross country team captains and honoring them as Hawks of the Week.  These team captains provided leadership on and off the trails this fall, keeping their teammates mentally and physically involved and culturally connected without any competition.

Robert Krug, the head coach of both the men's and women's cross country programs, announced senior Adam Connelly and sophomore Kristine Twoguns as this year's captains.  They earned the leadership role based on their positive attitudes, commitment to and involvement within the program.  Connelly and Twoguns have served as role models, been vocal leaders and continued to lead by example during tough runs.

"Connelly has been a steadying influence on the young men's team," said Krug.  "He has been through it all over his four-year career with the Hawks and he continued to offer his quiet leadership role that his teammates respected and responded to." The Tonawanda, N.Y. (Cardinal O'Hara) product competed in all but once race for the Hawks since lacing his cleats in 2017.  He posted his career-best 30:29.4 8K at the Harry F. Anderson meet in 2018 and produced a 32:19 time at the First Round of the NCAA Tournament that same year.  Connelly was the 2019 Meghan Memorial Award recipient and was given the 2018 Coaches Award by the men's cross country team.  He is a three-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference member, earned an AMCC Peak Performer Award in 2018 and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Academic Honor Society in April 2020.
