The athletics department honors the captains of each of the fall sports programs by designating them as Hawks of the Week. These team captains provided leadership on and off the field of competition this semester, keeping their teammates mentally and physically involved in skill improvement and cultural connection.
Women's volleyball head coach Calvin Crosby announced senior Rachel Hare and junior Kayla Kuzara as this year's captains. They earned the leadership role based on their positive attitudes, commitment to and involvement within the program. Hare and Kuzara have served as role models, been vocal leaders, have taken charge of group activities, and have held their teammates accountable.
Outside Hitter Rachel Hare (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) entered her final season of competition this fall and was hopeful to add to her career numbers. In 127 sets played, Hare has earned 42 kills, 24 service aces and 155 digs. She has doubled her offensive and defensive efforts, from one season to the next season to the next season, since joining the program in 2017, and Hare was going to be a key player in the Hawks attack this fall. She was named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference team and has earned a Peak Performer honor carrying a 3.5+ grade point average since her freshman year. Hare was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Academic Honor Society in April 2020.
