Hilbert College Athletics

Masia Phillips returned to the court for his final semester of basketball and earned his second Hawk of the Week honor his senior year.

The 6-1 shooter/slasher led Hilbert in scoring last week while the men’s team split their AMCC contests.  Phillips totaled 42 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and distributed five assists in Hilbert’s high-scoring 99-90 win at home against Penn State Altoona and their 91-76 road loss at Mt. Aloyius.

The Laurelton, N.Y. (Queens High School of Teaching) averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as the Hawks slipped to 6-2 in league standings.  He connected on 41.2 percent of his attempts from the field and 73.3 percent from the foul line.

Phillips scored 22 points off the bench against Altoona and 20 on the road at Mt. Aloysius.

His 17.8 points per game place him third in the conference-only game rankings and second (behind teammate Hunter Martineau) with 5.4 made free throws per game.
