Hunter Martineau continues to pace the men’s basketball team and has been rewarded with another Hawk of the Week honor.
The 5-11 point guard averaged close to a triple double with nine points, eight rebounds and 10.3 assists per game as his unselfish play propelled the Hawks to three consecutive wins this week, which kept Hilbert on the playoff bubble.
Martineau scored seven points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished nine assists in Hilbert’s Buffalo Cup win over Medaille. Then, 24 hours later, he posted a double double against Bradford, passing for 13 assists while pulling double 11 rebounds along with seven more points.
The Orlando, Fla (Timber Creek) native tossed in 13 points was credited with nine helpers and six rebounds in another road win - this one against Franciscan.
For the week, Martineau went 11-for-12 from the foul line and averaged three steals per game.
He currently leads NCAA Division III with 279 total assists and is tied for third with a 7.1 assist per game average. He moved into the Hilbert Top 10 in Total Rebounds (417) and Defensive Rebounds (295) from the point guard spot.
