Hilbert College Athletics

Emily Gawlak started the second semester off with a bang and collected her second Hawk of the Week honor this season. The Buffalo native brought energy and willed the women’s basketball team to an overtime win mid-week and was a consistent threat from the floor vs. the Lions in Pa.

Gawlak saw 83 minutes of court time in Hilbert’s overtime win against Pitt-Bradford (85-79) and in their road loss to Penn State Altoona (88-75) on Saturday.  The 5-6 guard scored 47 points, hitting .50 percent of her shots from the floor, grabbed 17 rebounds, five on the offensive end, and passed for seven assists.  She averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.

Gawlak posted her first double-double of the season after scoring a career-high 24 points while grabbing 13 rebounds (four offensive) in 43 minutes against the Panthers.  She tallied 16 points in the 20-minute second half which propelled Hilbert in their come-back win.

The Mt Mercy grad tossed in 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting (4-of-7 from downtown) while dishing five assists in the Hawks second AMCC loss of the season against Penn State Altoona.

Hilbert (11-4) sits in second place in the AMCC with a 6-2 record.
