Junior Emily Gawlak hustled her way to her first Hawk of the Week honor in basketball this winter.
The Mt. Mercy product was on the court for 78 of the team’s 80 minutes and totaled 26 points, ten rebounds, six steals and four assists as the Hawks went undefeated in the opening week of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.
She averaged 13 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists in Hilbert’s 80-67 win at D’Youville and their 71-52 victory over Pitt-Greensburg. The 5-7 guard shot 50% from the field and 100% at the foul line.
Gawlak knocked down 7-of-12 shots from the floor, striking for 17 points against the Bobcats after she went the full 40-minutes and produced nine points, eight rebounds against the Spartans.
She leads the league in minutes per game (37.8) and steals (24), but as Hilbert is the only team to have played nine games to date, Gawlak is ranked #2 in steals per game (2.7).
