After he adjusted to his new role on the team, Tyler Balsavage earned his first Hawk of the Week this season.
The sophomore from Lancaster was dominant in a 2-0 week for the men’s lacrosse team as he helped them roll to an 18-1 win over Medaille. The Hawks then closed the weekend posting the program’s first-ever victory against Keuka College (8-5) to improve to 4-2 in the NEAC.
Balsavage was credited with an assist, five caused turnovers and six ground balls lining up as a long stick middie for face-offs midweek against the Mavs. The 6-8 defender then earned four caused turnovers and three ground balls while attempting one shot in the Keuka win.
With one week left in the regular season schedule, Hilbert sits in third place (holds the tie-breaker with SUNY Poly).Â
Balsavage is currently ranked #2 in the NEAC in caused turnovers but leads the Hawks with 30 and is second on the team with 51 ground balls.
The Hawks will travel to SUNY Cobleskill (0-6) Wednesday and then host their Senior Day celebrations April 28 (1pm) against Cazenovia (2-4).
