Connor Duck powered his way to his first Hawk of the Week honor after he led the baseball team’s offensive performance, beating #19 La Roche College over the weekend.
The freshman from Lancaster High School also posted a perfect fielding percentage at shortstop against La Roche April 7. Hilbert split the series with the Redhawks, dropping a 5-2 opening game before they jumped out with a big lead in the nightcap and held-on for an 11-9 win.
Duck finished the day going 2-for-8 but it was his 2-hit, 4RBI performance that helped lift the Hawks to victory over La Roche for the first time since 2012.
Duck poked a 2RBI triple in the Hawks’ big six-run rally in the 3rd inning, and, after getting on base again in the 4th, he stole second base before making it home setting an 8-4 lead. The rookie knocked in two more runs with a 5th inning hit and lifted Hilbert to a six-run lead.
Defensively he was part of a double play that ended the 3rd inning where La Roche had two runners in scoring position with a Hilbert 6-4 lead.
