Hilbert College Athletics

Taylor Corts closed her sophomore campaign with a bang as she earned her second Hawk of the Week honor after leading the women’s basketball team in the First Round of the NCAA National Tournament over the weekend.

The 5-10 guard was the only player to reach double-figure scoring against The College of New Jersey Lions March 2.  Corts knocked in 18 points and was credited with two steals and two blocks against a very good team.

The Wayne High School product was 100% accurate from beyond the arc in the first half, knocking down all three attempts and led the Hawks with 11 points.  Her back-to-back shots from downtown forced the first tie score of the game (15-15) early in the second quarter after the Hawks trailed 15-9 by the quarter break.

She added another deep shot in the third quarter along with a perfect 2-for-2 at the foul line posting half of Hilbert’s points during that 10-minute span.

Corts and her women’s basketball team completed a magical season under first-year head coach Amy Senefelder.  The Hawks established Single Season Win records (21-7 and 16-2) along with being the first team since Hilbert College became a four-year institution to qualify for a Division III National Tournament.
