The 2017-18 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM has been named the Hawks of the Week after they earned the program’s first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship Title and athletic department’s first appearance into the NCAA Division III postseason after earning the league’s automatic bid February 25.
The women’s team was picked #7 in the coaches preseason poll but pushed forward ignoring the doubters and earned the regular season championship with a 16-2 record. As the number one seed, the Hawks hosted the AMCC Championship tournament and posted a 56-47 victory over Penn State Behrend before they ran away with a 76-52 win over #2 Mt. Aloysius.
This year’s team became the first women's basketball team to break the magical 20-game win season shattering the previous overall and league win records as they currently stand at 21-6 before the NCAA tournament begins March 2.
Congratulations to seniors Kelsi Ebert and Jenna Castricone, juniors Katelyn Proy and Morgan McNeill, sophomores Taylor Corts, Alayna DeFazio, Emily Gawlak, Maegann Mein, Ashley Repine and Natassia West as well as rookie Abbey Monahan. Also providing support were Jasmine Branch, Dani Ostroski, and Tiarrah Woods as well as the coaching staff of Amy Senefelder, Scott Foster and John Hall.
