Hunter Martineau has been a quiet leader all season but continues to drive the men’s basketball team. The sophomore point guard earned his fourth Hawk of the Week honor today.
Martineau totaled 20 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists, and eight steals in Hilbert’s 80-77 overtime win at home against Alfred State and their 67-66 AMCC victory at Franciscan. The 5-11 point guard averaged 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals in the 2-0 week for the Hawks.
The Orlando, Florida native had a career-high seven steals along with seven assists, three rebounds and 10 points in the non-conference contest against the Pioneers and followed that with another 10 point, nine rebound and six assists effort at Franciscan.
The 9-5 men’s basketball team currently sits in fourth place in the league standings with four games remaining. After this weekend’s win in Ohio, the Hawks earned their 8th consecutive appearance in the AMCC post-season tournament; now it is just a matter of where they will be seated as they continue to battle for a 3rd or 4th seed, which will allow them to host a First Round play-off game.
