Emily Gawlak was a steady force for the women’s basketball team last week and earned her second Hawk of the Week honor today.
Gawlak helped the Hawks sweep two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games and put them in a position of sharing the #1 spot with a 7-1 league record.
The 5-6 guard scored 42 points, collected 18 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in Hilbert’s 2-1 week.
She averaged 14 points (hitting 40% of her 3-point shots), six rebounds, 2.5 assists as Hilbert opened the week with a 71-59 non-conference defeat against Nazareth, a 69-60 victory vs Penn State Behrend and a huge win against Mt. Aloysius (75-68).
Gawlak averaged almost 37 minutes per contest and defended each opponent’s best player full court for all those minutes.
She scored 13 points, making 3-of-5 long distance hits against Nazareth, scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the AMCC win over Behrend and tallied 19 points (4-of-9 beyond the arc) and swiped one very important steal in the final seconds of Hilbert’s upset win against Mt. Aloysius.
