Derrek Carman's aggressive play in the lane helped the men’s basketball team pick-up two more wins last week.  For his efforts in the paint, Carman earned his second Hawk of the Week honor this season.

The Spencer-Van Etten product matched his scoring production with his rebounding effort.  Carman posted 24 points and 24 rebounds in Hilbert’s Buffalo Cup victory at D’Youville and then earned a double-double in the Hawks’ road win at Greensburg.  He finished the week knocking down 8 of his 18 attempts from the field and shot 88.9% from the foul line.

Against D’Youville, the 6-5 forward scored eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds while credited with one block and one steal in the 14-point win.  Three days later, Carman poured in 16 points (5-for-10) and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the charity stripe.  He cleared the offensive glass for five caroms and kept Greensburg away from additional possessions, taking claim to six defensive rebounds in Hilbert’s 82-71 sweep.

Carmen is ranked 2nd in the AMCC in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and 4th in field goal percentage (54.0%) while averaging 2.3 offensive and 5.5 defensive rebounds per game.  For the season, Carman averages 12.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
