Emily Galwak was a big spark for the women’s basketball team last week and earned her first Hawk of the Week honor.
The 5-6 freshman guard tossed in 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds and was credited with four steals in a pair of Hilbert losses, but her offensive efforts kept the Hawks competitive in two winnable games. Gawlak averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2 steals in 30.5 minutes of action.
The Mt. Mercy graduate poured in 14 points, hitting four of six from behind the 3-point line, and swiped three steals in Hilbert’s 76-67 loss to Medaille. She closed the week with an 11 point, four rebound effort against the undefeated Redhawks from La Roche.
Gawlak is on a four-game, double figure scoring drive averaging 13.5 points dating back to January 18. The women’s team (8-11) currently sits in 7th place with a 5-8 AMCC record.
