Taylor Corts, coming off back-to-back starts this week, earned her first Hawk of the Week honor as she helped the women’s basketball team earn consecutive victories for the first time this season.
The 5-10 guard averaged 15 points per game as Hilbert (5-6, 3-3 AMCC) earned a sweep over their Buffalo Cup competition this fall semester. Corts scored 30 points off 36 percent field goal shooting from the floor and an 83% effort at the foul line. She grabbed 14 rebounds and moved the ball with an assist, two steals and one block.
The Ontario, NY native came up big at the end of the week scoring 22 points as she cleared the glass with eight rebounds on the road against Franciscan. The Hawks built a 20-point lead by intermission but the Barons rallied hard in the second half. Corts produced a 10 point, 5-for-6 free throw performance in the final 20 minutes of action in the 62-51 win. In the 13-point Buffalo Cup victory over D’Youville, Corts chipped in eight points and six rebounds.
Corts is ranked 4th in the AMCC in free throw percentage (82.1), 16th in scoring (11.8 ppg) and 19th in 3-point shooting percentage (31.5).
