Derrek Carman earned his first Hawk of the Week honor after clashing in the lane for the men’s basketball team.

Carman scored 40 points and was just shy of his first double-double week after picking the glass for 19 rebounds in a pair of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games. 

The 6-5 forward averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds after shooting 57.7 percent from the floor and 76.9 from the foul line.  Carman has now produced six double-digit scoring performances with solid shooting at the charity stripe lifting the Hawks with a 4-3 record.

In Hilbert’s 84-75 victory over Bradford, the Van Etten, NY native went 9-for-15 from the floor and 2-for-3 at the foul line and produced his second double-digit rebounding performance, grabbing 12 boards in 31 minutes.  On Saturday, Carman battled foul trouble but still gathered 20 points and added 7 rebounds along with an assist and a steal in the Hawks 84-83 loss at Penn State Altoona.
