Jalen Smith earned his fourth Hawk of the Week honor after he helped lift his men’s basketball team to a 2-1 record in the first week of action.

Smith shot the lights out at the start his third season averaging 21 points behind 46.5% field goal and 75% free throw shooting, along with 3.7 assists for the Hawks. Hilbert opened the season at home with a 74-64 victory over Elmira before they hosted their 7th annual Tip-Off Tournament.  The south-paw guard dropped a career-high 28 points in the 90-74 victory over Cazenovia prior to the Hawks’ 80-79 last-second loss to Mount Union where he tallied 23 points.

Smith went 8 for 8 from the charity stripe in the season opener then followed with a blistering seven assists and went 10 for 16 from the floor (4 for 5 from deep) to set a new career-best point total in the first round game of the Tip-Off Tourney.  The Batavia native rallied in the championship game with 23 points (8-16 / 4-8 3-pt) and six rebounds.
