Jerame Owens produced big numbers for the men’s basketball team this week and earned his first Hawk of the Week honor this winter.
The senior from Spencerport lifted the Hawks to a 78-64 AMCC road win over Franciscan University on Saturday, keeping Hilbert a-top the leader board with a 3-0 record. Owens scored 20 points shooting 50% from the floor, 100% at the charity stripe (6-6) and grabbed 15 rebounds, earning his third double-double in his final season. The 6-6 forward also padded the stat sheet with three assists, two steals and one block.
Through nine games (8-1 record), Owens’ 61.1% FG leads the AMCC league as does his 23 steals.
Owens, selected the Preseason AMCC Player of the Year, is one block away from becoming Hilbert College’s All-Time Block leader as he sits in a two-way tie with Hall of Famer Mike Tyszka ’02 (128 career blocks).
